In the Spring of 2009, my husband and I decided to move forward with a divorce. He wanted to buy me out of our house and offered to help me purchase a new house prior to our dissolution of marriage. Both my attorney and my husband's attorney suggested that we contact Joey Van Leuven with Re/Max for a market analysis on our property located in the gated community of Rolling Hills. Joey provided us with a detailed market report estimating the value of our property at $3,600,00. Even though my husband was not happy with Joey's market valuation, because he wanted it to be lower, I asked Joey to help me find a new house based on her market value. My husband demanded that we have our Rolling Hills property appraised and the appraisal report had a very similar value to Joey's and we were allowed to continue. Joey was able to negotiate a good purchase price on the house, along with a quick escrow and was able to move at the start of the school year in 2009. After purchasing my property the court asked for an appraisal report and my property appraised for almost $100,000 more than what I purchased it for. I love my house. However, when my youngest daughter graduates from high school in two years, I will be placing my house on the market. Joey will sell my house in Rancho Palos Verdes and help me down size and purchase a house in my desired area within Hermosa Beach.
